About

Lorna and Steve Bussing are the owners and operators of Red Pepper Pizzeria.

Duvall residents since the late 1990's, Lorna and Steve opened Red Pepper in 2011, but their story goes back even further. Lorna purchased the historic 1911 building in 1998, originally running The Arcade Café.

The Red Pepper building was originally built in 1911 for F. W. Hoffman's Duvall Tailoring Company. Mr. Hoffman ran a thriving business for a number of years. Subsequent business have been The Silver Spoon restaurant, the Trading Post, and Liberty's Lighthouse.

The Arcade closed while Main Street was redone through downtown Duvall in December of 2008. During the down time, Steve ran a pizzeria in Mountlake Terrace and Lorna and Steve decided to open Red Pepper Pizzeria in Duvall to replace the Arcade on January 15, 2011.

Fun fact about how the Red Pepper Pizzeria name came to be: Lorna loved a café with the same name in California and when she bought the building in 1998, she decided to make a business name of Red Pepper when she signed up with PSE. Years later, Lorna’s oldest son and daughter-in-law were helping come up with a name for the new pizzeria that Lorna and Steve would be opening in 2011 and they came up with the name Red Pepper Pizzeria, not knowing that Lorna had selected that name on the PSE paperwork years earlier!

Red Pepper doesn't just make great pizza – they are incredible community supporters! Their local giving includes:

Schools & Youth: Weekly concession stands for Cedarcrest High School (with extra support for homecoming!), Teacher Appreciation Week pizzas for every school in the district, 60 pizzas for REF, Carnation Elementary events, and over 1,000 pizzas annually to Boy Scouts

Arts & Culture: Northwest Art Center catering, Lee Arts Foundation support, sponsoring musicians for Duvall Days and Carnation 4th of July and Block Party and Christmas in Carnation Celebrations

Community Services: Senior Center, support for local Firefighters, Police Cadets, EMPower Youth Network, Duvall and Carnation Chambers, Camp Gilead to name a few

They provide gift certificates for countless fundraisers and support volunteers for Duvall Days, Sand Blast, and various events in Sultan including the Boys and Girls Club and Parent Music Association.

When not crafting perfect pizzas or supporting the community, they are proud parents of 6 adult kids between them and 3 grandchildren. They love travelling and visiting family and their three adorable grandchildren in CA. Lorna’s youngest son went through Riverview School District from kindergarten through high school and she and Steve are still huge supporters of the Schools within the RSD.
